A portrait depicts not only the physical aspects of a person, but more importantly the bond of trust between two people: the subject(s) and the photographer. Like in quantum physics, the photo-capturer is complicit in the gesture of mutual observation and cannot be removed from it. One provokes the other, and vice-versa, in an endless loop that weaves itself around the true nature of our relationship. What is reflected in the portrait is as much about me as it is about them.

Look long enough, and your gaze will turn inward.
